He was predeceased by: his parents, Elisha Clay and Susan Vance Cothron; his children, Deborah Faye Cothron and Michael Ragland; and his siblings, Ruth Sloan, Fred, Howard, Carl and Harold Gene Cothron.

He is survived by: his wife Maurine Perrigo Ragland Cothron of Lafayette; his sons, Troy Cothron (Alicia) of Lafayette and Kevin Ragland (Tabby) of Murfreesboro; his grandchildren, Ava Bomar (Andrew), Eli Ragland, Nolan Ragland and Latisha Shultz; and his great grandchildren, Zaine Shultz and Tobias Shultz.

Family requests memorials be made to Eulia Cemetery.
