He was predeceased by: his sons, Charles "Chuck" Cowan, Sr. and Joe Sanders; his parents, Charles Cowan and Nira Williams Cowan; and his daughter-in-law Janet Cowan.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Cowan; his children, Teresa (Eric Fleming), Tammie Swindle, Joel Cowan and Toby Cowan; his daughter-in-law Molly Cowan of Lafayette; and his brothers, Jim (Jane Cowan) and Donald (Pat Cowan). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great-grandchildren.
