He was predeceased by: his parents, James Marcum and Callie Marcum. He is survived by: his son Sam Jr.; his daughter-in-law Midge; his grandchildren, Justin Marcum (Jodi) and Katie Clark (Jason); and his great grandchildren, Rylan Marcum, Peyton Marcum, Brayden Clark and Kaitlyn Clark. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers; please make a contribution in Samuel's name to Knoxville First Church of Nazarene, 538 Vanosdale Rd, Knoxville, TN 37909.
