He was predeceased by: his parents, Cassie McGhee and Alvin McKenzie, Sr.; his siblings, Henry Allen, Donald Williams and Barbara Billingsley; his sister-in-law Yolanda McKinzie; and his daughter LaRhonda McKenzie.
He is survived by: his wife Yolanda McKenzie; his children, James McKenzie Jr., Symira Milton (Darium), Kenya McKenzie, Cassie McKenzie and Admiral Robinson; his siblings, Alvin McKenzie (Mattie), Paul McKinzie and Deborah McKnight (Louis); and his close friends, Ronnie Davis, Jimmy Duncan, Alvin Johnson (Tammy) and Pastor Steve Simpson.
