He was predeceased by: his parents, Hermon Shumate and Doris Shumate; and his brothers, Frank and Larry. He is survived by: his wife Mona; his siblings, Fred (Carolyn), Edward (Brenda), Joan Gothard and Mary West; and his mother-in-law Mary Nichols. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at their convenience from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Wednesday, February 22, and from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Rose Funeral & Cremation-Broadway.
