He was predeceased by: his parents, L. D. Sowder and June Sowder. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Sowder; his children, Gregory Eugene Sowder II (Cindy) and Jennifer Sowder Wingler (Kyle); his stepdaughters, Christi Welch (Mark) and Tracy Green; his grandchildren, Ella Wingler, Jordan Keller, Corey Green and Caleb Green; his great grandchildren, Maddie Wilson, Adam Keller, Anna-Rae Landry, Abigail Green and Nora Keller; and his brothers, Neal Sowder (Nancy) and Gary Sowder (Marti).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fountain City Chapel (2829 Rennoc Rd, Knoxville, TN 37918). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37914). The inurnment will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
