He was predeceased by: his wife Clara; his parents, James Waldrop and Trannie Waldrop; his son-in-law John Whaley; and his granddaughter Tara B. Whaley.
He is survived by: his children, JoAnn Whaley and Ken Waldrop (Debbie); his grandchildren, Russell Whaley (Vicky), Chris Whaley (Donna) and Whitney Tucker (Zeke); and his sisters, Pat Vines and Mazie Evans. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
