He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Larkin and Rossie Lee Gay Casteel; the mother of his children Margaret Bernice Long Casteel; and his siblings, Kenneth, Charles "Link", Zella Mae "Curly" Patton, Addie Ruth Burger and Vivian Webb McConnell.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine "Cat" Daugherty Casteel; his children, Steve Casteel (Zee) of Kingston and Vicki Jackson (Teddy) of Kennesaw, GA; his great grandchildren, Rachel, Chase Holiway, Rose, Gabe, Violet Seibert, Hannah, Kenzie Jackson, Rossi and Spencer Casteel; his sisters, Marie Harris, Sarah Joyce "Tinker" Martin of Englewood and Alice Partain (Lewis) of Athens; his stepchildren, Tim, Bill Daugherty of Englewood and Aletta Monroe of Knoxville; and also, Jamee Holiway (Chris) of Shelbyville, KY, Shannan Casteel (Jamie) of Oak Ridge, Stephanie Seibert (Chris) of Kennesaw, GA and Joseph Jackson (Ellie) of Adairsville, GA. He is also survived by his four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Chestua Campground Community Cemetery Fund, 6106 Highway 411, Madisonville, TN 37354.The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Saturday, January 18 at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
