He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Louise Turpin Buckner; his daughters, Cassie Ladd and Paula Brackett; and his parents, Harold "Buck" Buckner and Evlyn Buckner.
He is survived by: his sister Kathy Buckner; his sons, John (Linda Buckner) and Jason (Melissa Buckner); his brother Ronald; his sister-in-law Eva Dorr; and his sister Donna Bolt.
