He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Faye Proffitt; his parents, Gilbert Proffitt and Tempie Proffitt; his son Gary Proffitt; and his siblings, Robert Proffitt, Kenneth Proffitt, Imogene Ball, Jeanette McCarter, Mable Hurst and Lois Rolen.
He is survived by: his children, James Dan Proffitt of Kingston and Kathy Martin (Michael Martin) of Kingston; his sister Rinda Majors of Powell; his grandchildren, Taelor May, Victoria May, Grant Proffitt and Tessa Proffitt; and his great grandchild Bodhi Banks.
