It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Phil Lee McConnell Sr. of Kingsport, Tennessee, who passed away on March 5, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Leland McConnell and Anne McConnell Donald; and his brothers, Jim McConnell and Ernie McConnell. He is survived by: his wife Shelby Lane McConnell; his children, Phil McConnell, Jr. of Potomac Falls, VA and Suzie McConnell Grap (Jeff) of Statham, GA.; his grandchildren, Rachel Grap, Ivan (Virginia Beach), Courtney Grap Mosshart (Colby), Drew Grap of Statham, GA, Kaylin McConnell of Potomac Falls, VA and Luke McConnell of Potomac Falls, VA; and his pets, Baxter, Sasha, Dallas, Zoey and Munchie.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Gate City United Methodist Church (255 Walnut St, Gate City, VA 24251). Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the same location. A reception will be held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 1:45 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Holston View Cemetery (226 Yuma Rd, Weber City, VA 24290).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gate City United Methodist Church, 255 Walnut Street, Gate City, VA 24251.
