She was predeceased by: her parents, Lonnie Wilson and Zora Mize Wilson; her children, Ella Mae Ewing Simmons and Paul D. Ewing; and her husband Lawrence "Pete" Ewing.

She is survived by: her caregiver Brenda Ewing Carpenter; her sons, Lawrence Jr. (Jackie), Charles (Noli), John (Annie) and Roy (Stevie); and her sister Rose Darnell of Cleveland, Ohio. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund.
