It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Marvin Wayne Shortt of Kingsport, Tennessee, born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, who passed away on December 8, 2023, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Shortt and Debbie Bowen Shortt; and his sister Clara Mae Sanders. He is survived by: his daughter Karen Nelson (Travis); his grandchildren, Carriella Starnes, Kalee Hall and Kendall Hall; and his siblings, Charles (Mary Shortt), Joe Shortt, Carl Shortt, Faye Rutherford and Phyllis Upchurch (Rebecca Mayo). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Marvin's memory to Sequoyah Council for Camp Davy Crockett, 129 Boone Ridge Drive, Johnson City, TN 37615.
