He was predeceased by: his former wife Frances Pauline "Polly" Cupp; his son Tommy Cupp; his parents, McKinley Cupp and Aldie Bass Cupp; and his siblings, R. E., Jim Cupp, Mary Baker and Bernice Whicker.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy Rimer Cupp; his daughters, Cheryl Sigrest (Howard) of Robertsdale, AL, Christy Downey (Ernie) of Ringgold, GA and Carianne Duncan (Brad) of Winter Garden, FL; his daughter-in-law Valerie Cupp of Abingdon; and his children, Jeff Turnmire (Julie) of Rogersville and Stacy Hall of Kingsport. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 13 great - grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
