He was predeceased by: his parents, James Brooks and Mary Gertrude Davis Brooks; and his siblings, Mary Sue Russell, William "Bill" Brooks, Paul Douglas Brooks, Johnny Hooper Brooks, James David Brooks and Thomas Lyle Brooks.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Cook Brooks; his daughters, Anissa Byington (Rodney) and Amanda Brooks; his grandsons, Brody Byington, Hunter Byington and Kenny Sykes; his great grandchildren, Maverick Byington, Grayson Byington, Bowen Sykes, Trigger Byington, Windslyn Byington and Jasper Byington; and his friend Larry Minnich. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
