John Earl Childress Obituary
The memory of John Earl Childress of Kingsport, Tennessee, who passed away on February 5, 2025 at the age of 91, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. Though John Earl may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those John Earl touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Childress and Irene Pecktol Childress; his wife June McCelland Childress; his brother Harold Childress; and his aunt Margaret Bedford.
He is survived by: his siblings, Martha Ann Pierce (Harold) and Robert W. Childress (Dawn); his sister-in-law Emily Dobson Childress; and his close friend Joy Mullen. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
A memorial service was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Broad Street United Methodist Church (100 E Church Cir, Kingsport, TN 37660).
