With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Edward Akers of Kingsport, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 21, 2024 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James "Jim" Akers and Mary Gray Akers; and his sisters, Hester Bright and Margaret Harper. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Eller Akers; his daughters, Debbie Lynn Powers (Jack) and Sherry Ann McGee; his grandchildren, Jenna Lynne Spangler (David) and Alesha Brianne Powers (Brandon); his great grandchildren, Brayden Powers and Camden Powers; and his sisters, Elsie Wallen (Charlie), Libby Roberts, Evelyn Kidd (Alan), Anne Cradic (Ray) and Judy Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
