As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Ilene may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Hutson and Betty Arnold Hutson; and her husband Barney Way. She is survived by: her children, Betty Way Hammons (Dan), Jeff Way (Keri) and Larry Way; her grandson Daniel Way; and her siblings, Gladys Mowdy and James F. Hutson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home (320 Grandview St, Church Hill, TN 37642). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 10:15 AM and at 11:00 AM at the Old Kingsport Presbyterian Cemetery.
