He is survived by: his sons, Mark Penland of Knoxville and Paul Penland (Sandra) of Kingsport; his grandchildren, John W. Penland (Allison) of Johnson City, Michelle K. Penland of Kingsport, Lindsay E. Penland of Knoxville and Adam D. Penland of Knoxville; and his sister-in-law Janet Penland of Asheville, NC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
