He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Proffitt and Bertie Smith Proffitt; his wife Ruby Dobbs; and his brothers, Don Proffitt (Dorothy) and Ken Proffitt (Loretta).
He is survived by: his children, Teresa Blair (Keith) and Douglas Proffitt (Kathy); his grandchildren, Ray Blair (Amy), Melinda Wilcox (Justin) and Matthew Proffitt; his great grandchildren, Travis Blair (Keyli), Aaron Blair, Ava, Drake Wilcox, Austin, Reid and Nora Proffitt; his great great grandchild Cohen Blair; and his brother John Proffitt (Margie). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes - Kingsport (117 E Charlemont Ave, Kingsport, TN 37660). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Oak Hill Memorial Park (800 Truxton Dr, Kingsport, TN 37660).
