He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Jack and Katherine Byrd Salyer; his son Robert Darrin Salyer; his son-in-law Chad King; and his siblings-in-law, David Millsap, Jay Burdge and Brenda Wilcox Burdge.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Wilcox Salyer; his daughters, Heather King and Holly Durham (Casey); his grandchildren, Isabella King, Gabriella King, Gage Durham and Fiona Durham; his great grandchild Ivy Fair Holm; his siblings, Nuten Salyer (Judy), Marvin Salyer (Linda), Virginia Olinger (Dillard) and Sandra Kaye Olinger (Kenneth); and his close friend Dwain Reed. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
