He is survived by: his wife Peggy Ray (Fletcher); his children, Debbie McDaniel, Kenny Ray and Kevin Ray (Jana); his stepchildren, Lee Simpson (Rhonda), Libby Sturdivant (Reed) and Wade Simpson (Joanna); his grandchildren, Curt McDaniel, Brian McDaniel (Terri), Whitney Ray, Amanda Cranford, Lance Ray (Katherine), Lydia Taylor (Robert), Britain Penland, Connor Simpson, Regan Simpson, Tyler Simpson, Savannah Simpson, Lainey Toombs, Austin Simpson and Kristen Brundridge (Kyle); and his sister Modine Bradley. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren.
