He was predeceased by: his parents, James Abner York and Mamie Mullens York; his wife Margaret June Payne York; and his brothers, Hobert York, L. C. York, Gilford York, Alfred York, Alvin York and Melvin York.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Leslie York (Diann), Meshon Dugan (Mike), Kathy Yeoman (Randall) and Margee Lee (Scott); and his grandchildren, Richard Leslie York, II (Monica), Shona Thurston, Michele Johnson (David), Laura Wright (Jonathon), Elizabeth Droke (Eric), Carla Lane (Jeremy), Asa Lee (Vanessa), Jonathan Yeoman and Cyrus Lee (Rebecca). He is also survived by great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Tate Funeral Home (950 Mel Dixon Ln, Jasper, TN 37347). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens (3076 Main St, Jasper, TN 37347).
