He is survived by: his wife Polly; his children, Joan Payne (Ronnie) and Emmett Proffitt (Julia); his grandchildren, Kristie Payne, Sherwin Taylor (Butch), Carrie Lee (Reuben), David Payne, Andrew Proffitt, Todd Proffitt (Lacey) and Ryan Proffitt (Amanda); and his sister Nan Foster.
