He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee William Smith and Mary Hedrick Smith; and his siblings, Deloris Smith Green, Donald Charles Smith, John Douglas Smith and Mendol Eugene Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Shelby Alvis Smith; his son Derek Smith; his grandsons, Craig Smith of Jonesborough and Chad Smith of Jonesborough; his nieces, Angela Morelock (Allen), Ramona Bullis (Marvin) and Samantha Sulfridge; his close friends, Eli and Charli Edwards; and also Phillip Green (Nancy) of Kingsport. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home (418 W College St, Jonesborough, TN 37659). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mayberry-Vincent Cemetery.
