She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Burleson and Beatrice Burleson; her husband James Oakes; her brother Johnny Burleson; her son James Edward Oakes; and her great grandchild Kyler Johnson.

She is survived by: her daughters, Lisa Nelson and Regina Hilton (Quentin); her brother Mike Burleson; her grandchildren, Clarinda Johnson and Weldon Hilton; and her great grandchildren, Kaylee, Kenzie, Cassidy Johnson, Kendra Garden and Kayson Bentley.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 at 1:50 PM at the Washington County Memory Gardens (113 Memory Gardens Rd, Johnson City, TN 37615). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
