He is survived by: his children, James Roe Jr. (Carolyn) of Johnson City, TN, Shirley Chapman (Richard) of Johnson City, TN, Deborah Rhodes (James) of Johnson City, TN, Jackie Santiago of Johnson City, TN, Jerry Roe (Jean) of Chuckey, TN, Norma "Gail" Pate (Ronald) of Gray, TN, Cynthia Coleman (Scott) of Belvidere, IL and Hope Tucker (Michael) of Sycamore, IL.. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
