He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Staggs and Bertha Burlinson Staggs; and his siblings, Charles, Ed, Joe, Lloyd Staggs, Gladys Stidham and Betty Watson.
He is survived by: his wife Clara Sullivan Staggs; his sons, Howard Staggs (Kelly), Bubba Staggs (Cheryl) and John Staggs (Emily); and his grandchildren, Rachel Higgins (Joe), Eric Staggs (Crystal), Caitlin Marriott (Josh), Shane Staggs (Cayla), Logan Butler (Josh), Hunter Staggs and Laura Anderson (Hunter). He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
