It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Lou Simmons of Joelton, Tennessee, born in Lascassas, Tennessee, who passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Henry Sauls; her former husband William Henry Matthews; her husband Thomas R. Simmons; her children, William Matthews, Jr., David Matthews, Keith Matthews, Mark Matthews and Patricia Matthews; her siblings, Robert Henry Sauls, J. H. Sauls, Ernest Herbert Sauls, Wiliam Holt Sauls, James Hollis Sauls and Nina Sauls Tarkington; and her grandsons, Robert Matthews and David Dean Matthews, Jr..
She is survived by: her mother Hallie Burton Matthews Sauls; her sister Carrie Nell Sauls Thompson; and her grandchildren, James Pardue, Robbi Pardue, Christy Hobbs, Keith Matthews, Jr., James Matthews, Angie Hunnel, Misty Matthews and Brandon Matthews. She is also survived by many great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
