He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Barrett and Lucille Barrett; and his son James Barrett, Jr. (Jimmy). He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his son William "Marty" Barrett; his daughter-in-law Nancy Barrett; his granddaughter Bailee Barrett; and his sister Fay Schroeder.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes contributions be made to "Children's Fund" at 1st Baptist Joelton 7140 Whites Creek Pike Joelton, TN 37080.
