He was predeceased by: his wife Amanda Phillips; his son Justin Phillips; his parents, Henderson Phillips and Mildred Phillips; and his brothers, Mike Phillips and Steve Phillips.

He is survived by: his son Jason Sutton; his grandchildren, Jacob Sutton, Elijah Sutton, Jacen Pugh, Emilee Massy, Meagan Massy and Samantha Phillips; and his siblings, Anthony Phillips, Charlotte Roberts and David Doak.
