He was predeceased by: his former wife Patricia Sue Firey; his grandson Christopher Pate; his stepson David Firey II; his half-brother Tommy Coleman; and his son-in-law Andrew Chaney.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Pat" Jones; his daughters, Susan Chaney, Cindy Webb (Nat), Tracy Rene and Alica Bischoff (Fred); and his stepdaughters, Debbie Firey-Louthen and Tonia Turner (Doug). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
