He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward and Ocie Trantham Swanger; his son Dale Lewis Swanger; and his sister Vickie Swanger Collins. He is survived by: his wife Mary Valentine Swanger; his children, Danette Swanger Seale (Danny) of Jefferson City, Tennessee and Jerald David Swanger, Jr. (Angela) of Alamance County; his daughter-in-law Lavone Swanger of Waynesville; and his siblings, Gloria Jenkins (Ed) of Mount Pleasant and Lewis Swanger of Waynesville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.
