He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Jefferson Thompson and Mildred Evans Thompson Rounsaville; his brothers, Thomas E. Thompson, Charles Kenneth Thompson and Jerome Eugene Thompson; and his stepfather Ernest Rounsaville.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Nunley Thompson; his children, Deborah Thompson Conley and James Wesley Thompson, Jr. (Jackie); his grandchildren, Kasie Ann Hooker (Jason), Adam Conley (Courtney) and James Wesley Thompson, III; and his great grandchildren, Samuel Lawrence Hooker, Elizabeth Ann Hooker, Alicen Grace Hooker and Jace Adam Conley.
