He was predeceased by: his wife Teresa Freeman; and his parent Neta Smith (Teresa Freeman). He is survived by: his children, Zachary Taylor Merritt, Cindy Cooksey (Clinton), Kathryn Teresa Jarrett (Jonathan), Ashley Nicole Chapa (Robie) and Michele Waldrop (Freddy); his grandchildren, Savannah Cooksey, Carrie Hutchins, Kylie Hutchinson, Stephen Cooksey, Bret Waldrop, Walker Hutchinson and Justin Wilson; and his great grandchildren, Hagen Waldrop and McKenna Grace Mathews.
