He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Thomas and Audrey Upton Thomas; his wife Frances Rose Thomas; his son Jerry Thomas; his brothers, Charles Thomas and Bill Thomas (Mary Ann); and his brother-in-law Douglas Brewer.

He is survived by: his son Michael Thomas (Sherri); his stepson James Randall Thomas (Lisa); his grandchildren, Caleb Thomas (Hope), Seth Thomas, Skyler Thomas, Emily Greer (John), Christopher Thomas and Jacob Thomas; his great grandchildren, Archie Turner Greer, Magnolia Jane Thomas and Wilder Lee Thomas; his siblings, Ralph Thomas (Marie) and Claudia Brewer; and his sister-in-law Evelyn Thomas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
