He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ayers and Lassie Clepper Ayers Baird; his siblings, John Ayers, Jr. and Jerri Roach Carney; his brother-in-law Ray Carney; and his sister Carolyn.
He is survived by: his wife Tomi Housley Ayers; his daughters, Debra Nelson Lawson (Jerry Lawson), Traci (J. J. Dower) and Codi (Paul Provins III); his brother R. L.; and his grandchildren, Nikki (Allen Bumgardner), Joshua (Brooklyn Nelson), Addison (Matt Russell), Alissa (Brian Miracle), Lt Sterling "Rusty" (Sarah Provins), Preston (Loren Provins) and Trace Provins.
