Virginia Headley Southard wrote a sympathy message

“My dear friend of 62 years is gone I’m told. My love goes to her children and grandchildren and I’m very sad she has left this earth. As her friend I’ve recalled many childhood memories of her folks, she and I playing basketball, riding our bikes, playground games at recess and school dances and ballgames and more, Pat pulling me from the icy pond when I fell through, so many childhood memories. As adults we always seemed to be pregnant at the same time always joking about it. She was a very dear friend who will always stay in my heart. I too am broken from this news and pained I can not be with you to say goodbye. I’m sorry for your loss and if ever you what to call to talk or ask questions about her before you were bone please call. I wish I could be there. I love my friend dearly and I’m going to miss our phone conversations and her cards and letters. She was always worried about me having the strokes and we both wishing so much we could get together just one more time. Pat was a good person and it’s going to be difficult for you all I know. I’m sending love and prayers to you all.”
