He was predeceased by: his parents, Juanita Smithers Bowling and Ed Smithers (Faye Overton Smithers); his stepfather James Robert Bowling (Bo); and his siblings, Gene Smithers, Willie Smithers, James Smithers, May Lawson, Zilpha Seibers, Sara Newport, Sue Bowling, Mary Chitwood and Versie Muse.
He is survived by: his siblings, Daniel Smithers of Huntsville, Gleason (Nancy Smithers) of Robbins, Ray Smithers (Mary) of Straight Fork and Cora Moffett (Barney) of Straight Fork; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Bowling of Brimstone and Vernon Seibers of Petros. He is also survived by 5 grandkids, 5 great grandkids; and a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
