He was predeceased by: his daughter Sandra "Sam" Haynes; his siblings, Ollie Mae Donaldson Thomas, Herschel Lee Donaldson, Elnora Donaldson Armour, Beola Donaldson, Claude D. Donaldson, Sr., Margie Donaldson Johnson, Thelma Donaldson Lewis, Eva Ray Donaldson Johnson, James LeVoy Donaldson, Mattielvira Jewel Donaldson Baker and Ruby Nelcie Donaldson Sharp; and his son-in-law Robert Allen Haynes.
He is survived by: the mothers of children, Peggy and Sandra "Sam"; his children, Peggy Collier (James) of Chicago, IL, Doris Jean Newhouse of St. Louis, MO and Rev. Daniel Wayne Donaldson (Linda) of Martin, TN.; his grandchildren, James Collier, Jr. (Rochelle) of Antioch, TN, Michael Collier, Sr. (Sheila) of Robbins, IL, Dr. Daniel Donaldson, II (Alicia) of Martin, TN, Brandi Haynes Barron (Anthony) of Humboldt, TN and Brittany Donaldson Mynatt (Greg) of Tyrone, GA.; and his great great grandchildren, McKenzie Jenkins and Amir Collier. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Private immediate family graveside services, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, for Mr. Luther Donaldson, will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Rosehill Cemetery in Humboldt, TN.
His response was, "Give them flowers where they can smell them, they can hear 'em. When you lay in that coffin, across the pulpit, you can't hear nothing they're saying; you can't smell no flowers; you can't hear no remarks.
