It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Ethlyn Barber of Humboldt, Tennessee, who passed away on March 5, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Joyce Ethlyn had on those she encountered along her journey. Though Joyce Ethlyn may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Stanley Cunningham and Ruth Cunningham (Guthrie); her husband Frederick Barber, Sr.; and her son Junior Howell. She is survived by: her children, Juanita Barber Horton of Humboldt, Stacey Lobuan (Al) of Evanston, IN, Trevor Howell (Leslie) of Niles and Wayne Howell of Schaumburg, IL; and her siblings, Derrick Cunningham (Jimmy) of Jamaica, Ena Samuels of Canada and Betsy Dawson of Florida. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church (701 W Main St, Humboldt, TN 38343). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
