He was predeceased by: his father William John Smith; and his sister Mary Elaine Smith Scheidt. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Smith; his children, William Smith (Tammy), Kenneth Bowles (Ada), Jesse Smith (Megan) and Monica Scales (Leo); his sisters, Tami Delaney (Donald) and Jean McKellop; and his grandchildren, John, Lauren, Ian, Zachary, Garrett and Daniel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
