He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Hardie and Laura Johnston; his brothers, Hal Johnston (Rita) and Hayes Johnston; his former wife Virginia Rhea "Jinny" Winfrey Johnston; his children, Robert Eugene Johnston II (Sharon) of Somerville, TN, Joseph Allen Johnston (Crystal) of Somerville, TN, Heather Faye Johnston of Somerville, TN and Patrick Rhea Johnston (Janay) of Murfreesboro, TN.; his stepchildren, Kevin Lloyd Kelley (Laura) of Hernando, MS, Jonathan Lloyd Kelley of Memphis, TN, Rachel Lynn Stimpson of Bartlett, TN and Jessica Lynn Kelley of Memphis, TN.; and his grandson Sgt Robert E. Johnston III. He was also cherished by 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
