He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Collins and Julia Collins; and his grandparents, Roy, Gertie Collins, Thomas and Willie Mae Griffin.

He is survived by: his wife Iris Phillips Collins; his children, Jamie Clayton (Jeff) and Richard Collins (Kelly); his grandson Jace Thomas Clayton; his sister Teresa Collins Cross; his aunt Wanda Anderson; his cousin Deanna Davis (Steve); his close friend Chris Bowling; his brother-in-law Joe Phillips; and his caregiver Shera McCaleb. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and several other family members.
