She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Phillips and Viola Phillips; and her son Dr. James Gardner Jr. (Tina). She is survived by: her husband James Newman; her children, Shawn Williams (Karen), Valda Pollard (Jeff), Carmia Gardner, Kathy Hixson (Johnny) and Angela Newman; and her pet Sugar.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Tina's memory.
