He is survived by: his wife Susan O'Hare; his daughters, Savannah Mello (Sean Mello) and Hanna Thompson (Nick Thompson); and his grandson Mark Thompson.

“I am so sad to hear of Col. Pete O'Hare's passing. It's with mixed emotions knowing he is now in a better place. He had such a profound influence on both my son Grayson and I. We used to come by the hanger with the T-38's. Grayson was around 6 or 7 and he would treat us like someone important, including Grayson. We would help out with the chores around the hanger and the guys treated Grayson like he was "one of the team". We will never forget his profound influence. Rick&Grayson Buhrmann”
