She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam Massengill and Gertie Shipley Massengill; her husband Arthur Ed Poole; her daughter Nancy Eloise Poole; and her siblings, Vera Mae, Louise, Ruby, Perry, Jimmy and Harry.

She is survived by: her daughter Freda Marie Gentry of Hixson, TN; her grandson Dean Gentry (Lisa) of Ringgold, GA; her great grandchildren, Zach, Hannah Gilkey (Austin) of Soddy-Daisy, TN, Ava and Cohen Gilkey; and her siblings, Peggy Curvin of Dayton, TN and Eddie Massengill (Gaynell) of Guntersville, AL.
