He was predeceased by: his parents, John Murdoch Crowell, Sr. and Naomi Jernigan Crowell; and his wife Cynthia "Cindy" Murray Crowell. He is survived by: his stepchildren, Melissa Moore (Mitch) and Chad Acuff; his stepgrandsons, Grant, Logan Moore, William and Jordan Acuff; his siblings, John Crowell, Jr., Tolbert "Bert" Crowell (Gail) and Kathryn "Kaki" Crowell-Hilde (Bill); and his friend Jan Powell.
