He is survived by: his children, James Mears Jr., Kevin Mears (Chandra), Tana Varner (John), Cheryl Green (Mike) and Robin Bynum; his sisters, Ruth Davis Rogers, Dorothy Tucker, Wanda Davis and Brenda Jaco; and his grandchildren, April Sitterson, Beth Bowden, Kristi Southerland, Cara Bullington, Kyle Miclean, Lindsay Meave, Lorrie Bynum and Ethan Mears. He is also survived by several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
