She was predeceased by: her husband James "Joby" Eakes; her parents, Clifford Boner and Thelma Boner; and her siblings, Betty Frank, Nancy Mathis, William Boner and Lee Boner.

She is survived by: her children, Charles Edward Eakes (Gail), James Gary Eakes (Janet) and Judy Gail Thesing (Mike); her sister Mary Ruth Johnson; and her grandsons, Blake Eakes, Blaine Eakes and Chad Eakes. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
